A case pack is a fixed number of units of one style that ship and sell together, such as 12 T-shirts in one carton, so buyers order whole packs rather than single pieces. The price per case is the per-unit wholesale price times the units in the pack: 12 × $20.00 = $240.00.
A case pack is the quantity a style is sold and shipped in: a buyer who orders one pack of a 12-unit T-shirt receives 12 pieces. Brands use packs to keep picking, packing and shipping efficient.
Put the pack size on your line sheet next to the wholesale price, so buyers plan their quantities in packs from the start instead of finding out at checkout.
A case pack is a count of units, while a prepack is a case pack with a fixed size ratio, such as 1 S, 2 M, 2 L and 1 XL in a pack of six. Every prepack is a case pack, but a plain case pack can hold whatever size mix the buyer picks.
Prepacks suit basics, denim and accessories, where stores reorder the same size curve; open case packs suit fashion styles, where each store's size mix is different.
Multiply the per-unit wholesale price by the number of units in the pack: a 12-unit pack of a $20.00 T-shirt costs the buyer $240.00. Keep quoting the per-unit price too, because buyers compare styles and work out their margin per unit.
Set the per-unit wholesale price first, from your cost and target margin, and derive the pack price from it. Working the other way round lets rounding on the pack price move your margin on every unit.
A buyer can only order whole packs, so any quantity rounds up to the next full pack. A buyer who wants 30 units of a style sold in packs of 12 has to order 3 packs, or 36 units, worth $720.00.
Choose a size that matches how the style ships and sells: it should fill a carton well, cover the size curve a store needs, and not be more than a small store can sell in a season.
Smaller packs make it easier for a boutique to say yes to a new style, while larger packs lower what each unit costs you to pick and pack.
In ModaFlow.ai each style can carry a case pack size and an order multiple, and both show on your line sheets and in your buyer portal, which warns a buyer when a quantity isn't a whole multiple. Prepacks with a set size ratio can be added in one tap from the buyer portal and from shoppable lookbooks.
