A prepack is a pack of one style that holds a fixed mix of sizes, and sometimes colors, sold as a single unit. A buyer orders a number of packs instead of choosing quantities size by size.

In fashion, a prepack is a ready-made assortment of sizes for one style, packed and sold together. A 1-2-2-1 prepack, for example, holds one small, two mediums, two larges and one extra large.
Prepacks are also called size packs, assorted packs or ratio packs. Brands use them to sell sizes in the proportions they produce, and buyers use them to order quickly.
A case pack is any fixed number of units sold together, while a prepack is a case pack with a set size mix. Every prepack is a case pack, but a case pack of 12 identical units is not a prepack.
A prepack is priced at the wholesale price per unit times the number of units in the pack. A 6-unit pack of a $30 style costs the retailer $180.
A T-shirt wholesales at $30 in a 1-2-2-1 prepack of six units. A boutique orders four packs, so it receives 24 units in a fixed size mix for $720.
Brands offer prepacks so that small orders still arrive in size mixes they can produce and ship efficiently, and some offer open-size ordering beside them for larger accounts.
The ratio usually follows the brand's size curve: if mediums and larges sell twice as fast as smalls, the pack holds twice as many of them. Packing to the curve keeps the brand's stock balanced and the retailer's sizes in proportion.
One ratio for every account
A store whose customers run small and a store whose customers run large need different packs. Offer two ratios, or allow open sizes on larger orders.
Ratios that ignore sales data
A pack built on guesswork leaves retailers with spare smalls and no mediums. Build the ratio from last season's sell-through by size.
Hiding what is in the pack
Buyers need to see exactly which sizes a pack holds before they order. Print the ratio on the line sheet next to the pack price.
In ModaFlow you define packs by size, such as one small, two mediums, two larges and one extra large, and assign them to styles. Buyers add whole packs from your line sheet or shoppable lookbook, and the order records the units in each size.
